Allison "BadJoe" Trotman of 103 Jamz is a significant part of the Virginia Reggae family. His long running show, "The Caribbean ShakeDown", airs each Sunday at 12p.m-3p.m. This year, the 4th Annual Virginia Reggae Awards will certainly be exciting. Badjoe will bring excitement to this years celebration of Virginia Reggae music!
Born in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, he was given his nickname Badjoe by his favorite aunt a few months after being born. He started playing music at the age of 11 and at 16 he was playing alongside top DJ Zeus of St. Thomas. In 1991, he hosted The Reggae Jamboree at Norfolk State University until his graduation in 1993. Later that year he joined WOWI 103 Jamz to host The Caribbean Shakedown. He has been #1 in his slot for the last 16 years and counting.
He has worked on the same stage as the world's legendary Reggae and Soca stars including Beres Hammond, Marcia Griffiths, Buju Banton, Sean Paul, Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Krosfyah, Shurwayne Winchester, Machel Montano and Xtatik, Destra, Iwer George and other top DJ’s around the world.
His music consists of all genres of music from soca to dancehall, chutney to latin, hip-hop to R&B, you name it he can play it! You can still hear the unique sounds of Badjoe every weekend on air. He plans to continue to strive to do the very best at what he does. Badjoe has definitely left his mark on the dj business and continues to grow in popularity.
Badjoe was nominated for a 2009 Virginia Reggae Awards. The Virginia Reggae Awards Will take place Saturday May 14, 2011.
